INTERVIEWING PILGRIMS IN TEIS. 1st ESO students from the bilingual section

And finally the last video! My students are interviewing pilgrims in TEIS on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The activity took place on June  6th but a lot of work had been done before and a bit more had to be done afterwards. Their last oral exam was to tell me what they had found out about the people they had interviewed. Please, have a look at all the process in the video. I hope you will enjoy it.

It has been great to be your teacher this year!

Tech addicted?

One might think she is on drugs. However, some ideas could be useful when you want to talk about using and abusing social media.
The video could also  inspire you to create your own video about any of the topics proposed for your "optional project"
If you want to have a look at another example, click on the following link.

Back to the twenties

I am glad to show you the project done by some of the amazing students I have been teaching for four years.  It is a collaboration between History ( Mercedes Martín ) and myself. The video shows some examples of the work they can do.  They are not all here but they are all outstanding. So proud of you!

SAVING THE PLANET

We may not get as far as Boyan Slat but there are other easy ways to protect the Environment: Reducing, Recycling, Reusing. And that is what we want to do

at IES ROU.
4th ESO students are encouraging the school community to give their clothes a second life.
If you want to participate, bring clothes that are clean and in good condition to exchange for other items for you or your family. Add your name and group to the bag and
you will be given a voucher for a maximum of 5 items.
Leftover clothing will be donated to Caritas Teis.
Some students have started to bring stuff, the market will be opened next Monday!
Come and have a look!

The Breadwinner. 3 ESO. Reading club.

Reading is a passion most of the students in the bilingual section share and I take advantage of it challenging them to read more complex books than the common abridged copies normally used in class. This year we have read The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis.

In February students started getting familiar with the background of the story, sharing their discoveries with the rest of the students in the group. Later they started reading and in April they answered questions about the plot, the characters, etc. first from chapter 1-5, then from 6-10. We left the last 5 chapters for a meeting that took place at the beginning of May. That day the students gave their opinions about different aspects of the book, what had impressed them the most and answered some questions while enjoying a cup of tea.

All the steps of the activity are in the video you can watch clicking on the photo.

I would like to thank again all the students who wanted to participate in the making of the video. I think you are GREAT!!!

Exeria. The first Galician traveller. 3 ESO

A couple of weeks ago we could learn about Exeria thanks to NOA. As I was working and listening to the radio this evening I  heard her name and about Carlos Pascual who has translated and published her letters.  I guess we owe him the discovery of this curious and brave woman. Just in case you were curious too.

Aulas Galegas has chosen one of my recipes!

Most of my students  from 2nd ESO have already watched the video and answered some of the questions. I am bringing it  here again as it has been uploaded to the amazing web  AULAS GALEGAS
I just want to thank the excellent team of teachers in charge of the web.  I am using and sharing lots of resources created by fabulous teachers. Great job!
If I had known it was going to be watched by so many people,  I would have tidied the kitchen and worn some makeup.

SAFTAS-ERASMUS+ AS BARXAS
A group of students from SAFTAS -ERASMUS + have been attending the theatre plays performed in Moaña (CIRCUÍTOS TEATRAIS) this month. Yesterday we went to the last play UBÚ REI by Talía Teatro and as they had done in the previous ones the team interviewed the actors. Very interesting play and amazing performance.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HIM/HER. 1ST BACH ORAL PROJECT

Last year I asked my 1st Bach students to prepare an oral project about a person who has done something relevant to humanity, who has managed to change the lives of others for better. People who surprinsingly may have been forgotten. I remember I gave them some examples. In that case I focused on women, as we know they are pretty often the forgotten ones. The outcome of that project had some  lights and lots of  shadows  with students talking about singers,  football players and even wrestling fighters.
This year I am planning to give you the same assignment and I am bringing here what could be a good example.

Sir Nicholas Winton who organised the rescue and passage to Britain of about 669 mostly Jewish Czechoslovakian children destined for the Nazi death camps before World War II in an operation known as the Czech Kindertransport. This video is the BBC Programme "That's Life" aired in 1988.

He met people he had saved from death when they were kids
during  a BBC Programme

There is a biographical documentary as well. Have a look at the trailer.

FESTIVAL DE CANS

One of the last activities the Erasmus+ group attended was the Cans Festival at the end of May. Being so busy with exams and the last academical tasks we had to leave the editing process for the summer. Believe it or not some students came at the end of June and a few days in July to have it ready and we are proud to show it to you. Thanks to Xián, Andrea, David, and the really hardworking Sabela, Susana, Nerea and Isabel.
Thank you to María too, the French teacher who was very kind to take the students to and from Cans.
Enjoy!

Javier's daily routine. 1 ESO

Despite the photo, it is Javier's oral presentation about daily routine. Elba is giving her opinion about the project.
Sorry to have taken so long to upload them. Now we can use them to talk about the same actions in the past since we have started using the past tense.

SHAKESPEARE IN LONDON. OXFORD COMPETITION.

After a few weeks work in a very busy time for all of us, my students from 4 ESO C  have managed to finish the video in time to enter the Shakespeare in London Competition.
The prize for the winner?
Four days in London for the whole class and tickets to see a play at Shakespeare's famous Globe Theatre.

They have chosen a scene from MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and Isabel Cascante has rewritten it travelling to the future.

If you like it, you can vote for it. But not yet, you must wait until 17th May and then you will have two weeks to vote!
Hope you enjoy it.  We had a lot of fun!

Feeling optimistic

Some of our students  have visited " El salón del libro " today so they have missed our lesson.
Here you have one of the activities we did.
Amazing news: Flavia is getting married (wow!), Adrián is running a marathon, Laura is moving abroad, some feel bad... But all of them get positive responses from their classmates.
That's the spirit!

1st type conditional

First conditional  Condition (  If+Present)   ----- Result ( Future tense with WILL / WON´T) If I go to bed now ,   I won't be tired tom...
