Tips to help you write your own and another example
Taylor Swift is a good story teller
This blog has been created to share news, projects, videos and everything I may find interesting with my students. I will also upload their work and anything I consider useful for them to improve their English. Everybody is welcome. Formerly known as Englishasbarxas, I have now adopted the name of my new school: IES ROU. PALMIRA CALVAR

It took me quite a while to find time to put some photos together after our trip to London with all the planning, teaching, correcting before the end of the 2nd term. So I only sat down to it at Easter. I am sure you have lots more but I would like to share with you Enma`s wonderful photos and my not so good ones + final video. I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks again to my brave colleagues Xulio, Anxo, Trini and Enma and to all the students from 1st Bach who came to London and followed us at a good pace (almost one hundred kilometres in less than five days) without much complaining. My camera got proof of that tiredness with studtents taking naps in different museums. I was nice enough to discard those photos though.
The students had to do some research about the places to visit. Have a look at the web page created by Enma for the students to upload their post before travelling. ( We are still waiting for some...)

As I have mentioned before, the best way to improve your writing is practising. Before that, you should get familiar with the model and read a good bunch of examples. Reread the ones in your student's book, the one below and you can have a look at others uploaded before in this blog
ONE charity worker from Twickenham, West London received the shock of her life when she discovered a “glass”ring that she bought thirty-three years ago was actually a diamond ring all along.
Fifty-five-year-old Debra Goddard had been keeping the ring in a box for the past 33 years. She bought it for £10 ($13 or around P680) at a boot sale and only brought it out when her 72-year-old mom June Boyle lost all her money to a relative’s fraudulence.
Goddard was hoping the ring would be worth around £750 (around $980 or P51,000), but she was surprised when a jeweler told her it was a 26.27 carat diamond.
“When I went to the jeweler he nearly fainted and said, ‘Do you know what this is? It’s a diamond,’” Goddard was quoted as saying. “I sat up all night looking at it, wondering what to do.”
The ring, which was valued by auction house Sotheby’s at £740,000 ($964,000 or P50.5 million), earned Goddard £470,000 ($612,000 or P32 million) after auction costs. Goddard called this unexpected twist of fate “karma” for all the terrible things that befell their lives.
I must have a look among my belongings. Who knows? I might be a millionaire!
I love markets. The old camera was bought at a car boot sale on the way to Norwich.
The cups at Coven Garden Market in London.
Who were they previous owners? What kind of people and landscape has the camera captured over the years? Which fingers and lips have touched and enjoyed coffee with my beautiful cups before?

The best way to improve your writing skills is reading examples, paying attention to the structure of the essay, studying the most suitable connectors, and writing a few about different topics before the exam.
Here you have a new example. Choose two suitable connectors in the opinion essay below.

Today, Irene showed her concern about the listening exam. I am sure she will do OK. We are going to do more practice in class. However, in case you or your classmates want more extra practice, you can click on my dog, Reyna, and she will take you to a few listening activities prepared by the BRITISH COUNCIL for you.
The following will be more demanding but you can try now or in the future.
