This blog has been created to share news, projects, videos and everything I may find interesting with my students. I will also upload their work and anything I consider useful for them to improve their English. Everybody is welcome. Formerly known as Englishasbarxas, I have now adopted the name of my new school: IES ROU. PALMIRA CALVAR
For the ones who are fond of the ROYALTY and that is not me. But it is surely a day to remember in the United Kingdom.
It’s the final countdown. After months of preparation, Britain will celebrate the coronation of Charles III and the world is getting ready to watch.
The coronation will take place in Westminster Abbey, which for almost a thousand years has witnessed the most important royal acts – the first going back to William the Conqueror in 1066. But the ceremony is a mere formality for Charles III, who has been serving as monarch since September 8 in the wake of his mother Elizabeth II’s death at age 96.
Not many official days left. You may think there won't be much to remember from this busy, weird academical year that some may want to forget soon. However, a year that will hopefully take you to the beginning of a great future. Think high and make your dreams come true. And as Bruce sings. No surrender. Never give up!

Hungry for more...?
HUNGRY HEART
Hungry heart ( remember /hɑː(r)t/ you may need to remember the pronunciation for ABAU 😬)
with different explanations about the meaning of this catchy song. CAN YOU DISCUSS IN PAIRS THE MEANING OF THE SONG?
Got a wife and kids in Baltimore, Jack I went out for a ride and I never went back Like a river that don't know where it's flowing I took a wrong turn and I just kept going
Everybody's got a hungry heart Everybody's got a hungry heart Lay down your money and you play your part Everybody's got a hungry heart
I met her in a Kingstown bar We fell in love I knew it had to end We took what we had and we ripped it apart Now here I am down in Kingstown again
Everybody's got a hungry heart Everybody's got a hungry heart Lay down your money and you play your part Everybody's got a hungry heart
Everybody needs a place to rest Everybody wants to have a home Don't make no difference what nobody says Ain't nobody like to be alone
Everybody's got a hungry heart Everybody's got a hungry heart Lay down your money and you play your part Everybody's got a hungry heart
I just love using this video to start explaining conditionals. My students were in 2nd ESO then ( that was 10 years ago so they are about to finish their degrees, maybe some are already working...) I have only kept track of some of them. I hope they are all having as much fun as we had with activities like this one organised by the music teacher, Seso Durán.
If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I will sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dar and you can't see
I will be the light to guide you
1st type conditional
If + present tense (If you find), - future tense ( I will sail)
I have been a few weeks on sick leave but coming back on Monday. I guess you have all been informed of the scholarships to travel abroad along this year.
After watching the video from Fiveminded, you may want to check how much you know about women who made a difference, a challenging quizz created by Paula López and published by aulasgalegas
For International Women's Day and beyond, let's all fully #EmbraceEquity.
Equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have.
A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA.
And it's critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.
The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren't enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action. Read more about this here
