YESTERDAY. 1 ESO

I have a student who cannot distinguish between the past and the future. Yeah, pretty weird.
Maybe  the most difficult part this year has been learning all the irregular verbs in the past.  And then all of a sudden we jumped into the future. Let's see if we can make things clearer  with music. And what better song than YESTERDAY for that?. I have just found out there is a movie coming next month. Let's watch the trailer and sing some songs. The Beatles' songs are great to learn English.

Yesterday all my troubles ............. so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I ...... to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday ...... suddenly.

Why she ........ to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I ............ something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Why she ............. to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I .............. something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.

So that was yesterday, the past. if you want to jump to the future you can sing:
We will rock you
I Will survive
Everything is gonna (going to be) alright
....

Rafa Nadal. 12th victory at Roland Garros

This time, there were no crowds of people like there had been on other occasions. His friend Pau Gasol wasn’t there, nor was it possible to spot any other familiar faces from the world of sports.
That’s because for several years now, Rafael Nadal has been turning the extraordinary into ordinary

Area, one of a kind

Mi foto

Her name is Area. I was very lucky to teach her English for three years at AS Barxas. While she was studying 4 ESO she applied for a scholarship and spent a year in  the USA. That was the beginning of her adventure. Then she applied to stay one more year, and then for a scholarship to go to college there,... but...
Would you like her to tell you about it? We can invite her to come to meet you.
In the meanwhile, you can have a look at her blog clicking on the link below

READERS

This year a good bunch of students have read books which were not abridged. They have later either prepared an oral presentation or  an oral test. Some have also prepared a short review to encourage classmates to read them. A few have even  let me film them so I will upload those videos soon.

Lucía from 2 Bach B  explained how she felt reading "Call me by your name",  the plot and the diferences with the film, which she has also seen. Well done!!

Reading corner Class 22

Class 22
The reading corner was created  during this academical year. Two old chairs were recycled: painted and upholstered. They look great now but have a look at the first step below!. The shelf was from my time as a student in Santiago de Compostela. I just cleaned it and added a touch of purple.
I have noticed my students love sitting there when they have some time to read or  get a  book to take home. I feel they are even more relaxed in the confortable  chairs for their oral exams. Glad to share the final product of my skills recycling with you.  If you want to learn...I can show you!!!

Tribute to Judith Kerr, the writer of THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA

1 ESO and to all those who still have a kid inside

Judith Kerr, who was born in Germany, was a British writer and illustrator. She died a few days ago in London. I taught English to my daughters reading books like the one below. She wrote mostly for children but you will find how interesting this story can be to start learning to use the simple past.
Shall we read it in class? I will leave my precious copy in class for you to have a look.

DELICIOUS BISCUITS BAKED BY IVAN AND ROI 1 ESO B

This week Roi and Ivan showed us their video explaining how to make delicious biscuits. It was  very interesting but just a bit long and their classmates were  anxious and very worried in case they didn't have time to eat them! It was amazing!. They brought biscuits for everybody, very nicely wrapped too.  Well done!!!
Thank you soooo much, and thanks to those mums who are at home helping their kids.
Just remember you only have to explain how to make the recipe briefly and you don't have to bring anything.
You should also remember you have to make sure the pronunciation is correct. Check it with me or Katie or "Text into voice" in this blog
katie, you missed it again! Dani Bouzas, you also missed it. No cookies left. We ate them all  😊 !!!

Galician Letters day or Galician Literature day

May 17 is a very special date. We pay  tribute to all those who fought and continue fighting to keep Galician  alive.

Galician Literature Day (GalicianDía das Letras Galegas) is a public holiday in Galicia. It is a celebration of the Galician language and its literature which was inaugurated by the Royal Galician Academy (Real Academia Galega) in 1963 and has taken place on May 17 each year since then.
The first celebration took place in 1963 to commemorate the centenary of Cantares gallegos, the first work written in the Galician language by Rosalía de Castro (1837–1885), who later became one of the most important poets in the history of Galicia. Cantares gallegos was first published on May 17, 1863.[1]
Since 1963, each Galician Literature Day has been dedicated to a different writer in the Galician language. Only writers who have been dead for at least ten years are eligible, and the choice is made by the Royal Galician Academy.

This year it is dedicated to Antonio Fraguas.

SUPER BOWL 2019

Super Bowl LIII is upon us, the annual event that means zany commercials, trailers from hotly-anticipated films, and some football somewhere in there as well.
This year’s game sees the New England Patriots facing off against the Los Angeles Rams, and will feature Maroon 5 as the half-time act. Fans can also expect a bunch of new teasers for films like Avengers: EndgameToy Story 4, and more.
Follow along for all of the updates, trailers, commercials and more.
