Final revision before test. 2 BACH

Some of you asked me for more practice before the exam, so here it goes. You will find 5 exercises to revise all the tenses. You should also practise rewriting. I hope it helps. The key is at the bottom of the last page.

Revising Tenses. I AM READY FOR THE TEST!

Last Monday was the 50th anniversary of Janis Joplin's death. Most of you haven't surely heard of her. She was a force of nature, an amazing voice, a weak and tough woman who died too young ( 27,  like a bunch of other singers who died at the very same age).

Have a great weekend!!!

Trump leaves hospital in much criticised drive-by amid COVID-19 treatment. Newspaper article. From EURONEWS

Donald Trump has been criticised for taking a drive to wave at cheering supporters outside the hospital where he is being treated for coronavirus.

The US president, who was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with COVID-19 just days ago, was spotted on Sunday in the back of an armoured SUV, wearing a mask and saluting the crowd.

In the front passenger seat and driving seat, Secret Service agents also wore masks and other protective gear.

"This is insanity," Dr James P Phillips, an attending physicianat the hospital, said as he warned the president's trip could put lives at risk.

"Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary presidential 'drive-by' just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die."

He added: "For political theatre. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theatre."

WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!! MORE WELCOME THAN EVER!

This is the second time I create this post. I have no clue what happened to the one I uploaded a couple of days ago.

Well, this is a must! A way I love to start my 2nd Bach year: Using music and this song full of energy to encourage you to start working and learning English in what is going to be " an interesting" year".

So we will start singing and hopefully will finish the same way.

Can you fill in  the blanks?
Do you know the meaning of all the missing words?

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept _______ I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
And I _______ strong
And I learned how to get along
And so you're back
From outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should _______ _______  that stupid lock, I should _______ _____   you leave your key
If I'd known for just one second you'd be back to bother me
Go on now, go, walk out the door
Just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Do you think I'd  ___________
Did you think I'd lay down and die?
Oh no, not I, I will survive
Oh,______ _____ ______ I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live
And I've got all my love to give and I'll survive
I will survive, hey, hey
It took all the strength I had not to _______   __________
Kept trying hard to _______ the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent oh-so many nights just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
But now I ________my head up high and you see me
Somebody new
I'm not that chained-up little person and still in love with you
And so you _______ _______dropping in and just expect me to be free
Well, now I'm saving all my lovin' for someone who's loving me
Go on now, go, walk out the door
Just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye
Do you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die?

What is the song about?
How did  the protagonist of the song feel after  the breakup?
Has she changed? In what sense?
How many different tenses can you see in this post?

Shall we go out for dinner?

Watching this video  you will learn a lot of vocabulary needed when eating out: how to order at a restaurant, different kinds of food, tipping... and the best of all... not listening to me but watching different scenes from popular  TV series. You can also learn a lot reading the comments. Enjoy dinner!

What a backpack!

But together we will overcome all the problems and learn some English.

Please, keep being careful, use your masks at all times, wash your hands properly and frequently.

 See you soon!

It would be great if you start listening to all the music in the blog, read a couple of articles from newspaper or links on the right hand side, practise with the big challenge... So many options!!!

Christmas time 😳 Do not worry, NOT YET!!! It is still August but for Abel...it is Christmas all year round!

Even as sunbathers continue to flock to nearby beaches and locals wander around in T-shirts, talk in the northern Spanish city of Vigo has turned to Christmas.

“Today we start setting up Vigo’s Christmas lights, which means we’re setting up lights for the best Christmas in the world,” the city’s mayor, Abel Caballero, told reporters on Wednesday. “We’re going to have 10 million LED lights.”
