Writing. A narrative. 2 BACH

Love story by Taylor Swift

This is the song Adesh used to show you how Taylor Swift  follows the pattern (Exposition-Conflict-Climax-Resolution) to write the stories in her songs.  Please note it is informal English so do not imitate the language. However, the structure may  be useful to write your own stories/songs.

We were both young when I first saw youI close my eyes and the flashback startsI'm standin' thereOn a balcony in summer airSee the lights, see the party, the ball gownsSee you make your way through the crowdAnd say, "Hello"Little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwin' pebblesAnd my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"And I was cryin' on the staircaseBeggin' you, "Please don't go, " and I said
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be aloneI'll be waiting, all there's left to do is runYou'll be the prince and I'll be the princessIt's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
So I sneak out to the garden to see youWe keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if they knewSo close your eyesEscape this town for a little while, oh oh
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letterAnd my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"But you were everything to meI was beggin' you, "Please don't go, " and I said
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be aloneI'll be waiting, all there's left to do is runYou'll be the prince and I'll be the princessIt's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"Romeo, save me, they're tryna tell me how to feelThis love is difficult, but it's realDon't be afraid, we'll make it out of this messIt's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"Oh, oh
I got tired of waitingWonderin' if you were ever comin' aroundMy faith in you was fadingWhen I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said
Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so aloneI keep waiting for you, but you never comeIs this in my head? I don't know what to thinkHe knelt to the ground and pulled out a ringAnd said, "Marry me, JulietYou'll never have to be aloneI love you and that's all I really knowI talked to your dad, go pick out a white dressIt's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"Oh, oh, ohOh, oh, oh, oh'Cause we were both young when I first saw you

FILM REVIEW. 4th ESO

USEFUL LANGUAGE TO WRITE A FILM REVIEW AND AN EXAMPLE

THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS MAY HELP YOU WRITE YOUR OWN.

1. What is the title of the film?
2. What genre is it? Can you compare/relate it to others?
3. What is it about?
4. Is it based on a book?
5. Where is the film set?
 6. When is the film set?
7. Who stars in the film?
 8. Who plays the main role(s)?
 9. Who is your favourite character in the film? (Why?)
10. What kind of person would like this film? Recommendation.

You can follow this pattern.

  • To inform. The review needs to tell people who is in the film, who it is by and where or when readers can see it.
  • To describe. The review should describe the story, characters and some of the action - without spoiling the plot or giving too much away!
  • To analyse. A good review gives an opinion on whether the film is good or not and why.
  • To advise. Finally, the review should tell the reader whether or not to go and see the film.

Relative Clauses. 4th ESO

Relative Clauses

Xtreme sports. 2 Bach

I was looking for videos about extreme sports to show you in the next class when I came across the news:

Spain was unexpectedly defeated in the game against Japan, so I looked for an article about the game and found this one with the podcast, which I think can make it more interesting.

You can read and hear the article from  thejapantimes

Anyway, the objective was extreme sports, so  after watching a few people talking about different experiences I decided to use Diana Nyad's  story. No doubt she is a courageous woman!

"Never give up" is one of her mottos
