Tech giants Apple and Facebook are offering to help women employees put off pregnancy later in life by having their eggsfrozen.

Facebook has been offering the service for its employees in the US since the start of this year and Apple will follow suit from January 2015.

Apple will pay both full and part time employees up to $20,000, that's around £12,500 for the procedure, and storage costs for female eggs.

The company said in a statement they want to empower their female employees to do the best work of their lives, as they care for loved ones and raise families. And fertility doctors agree this is the right thing to do.

“So egg freezing offers the opportunity to delay fertility until later in life and benefit from a younger egg. They learn about their fertility. I think that's one of the most important benefits. Even just talking to the doctor about it probably allows them to understand their fertility better. It's not dangerous, it doesn't affect future fertility, but the cost is high. So, if one lowers or eliminates that one barrier, I think we have a very positive track forward.”

But others have suggested the companies should instead focus on offering more flexibility and support for new parents.

COMO PODO  PRESENTAR A MIÑA SOLICITUDE

INSCRIPCIÓNS: do 3 de outubro ao 17 de novembro de 2014

Para presentar a túa solicitude ao Programa de Bolsas High School, só tes que seguir os seguintes pasos durante el plazo del proceso de inscripción:

1.Entra na sección inscrición on line desta WEB. Para rexistrarte, introduce o teu nome e apelidos, DNI e correo electrónico, e elixe un contrasinal persoal.

2.Enche o formulario de inscrición. Recorda que tan só introducindo o teu DNI como nome de usuario e o teu contrasinal, podes entrar de novo no formulario, para modificar ou completar os teus datos sempre que queiras, ata o momento do envío.

3.Cuando rematases de encher o formulario, simplemente envíao a través da WEB. Recorda que, a partir dese momento, xa non poderás recuperar os datos do formulario. No momento do envío, recibirás un correo electrónico de conformidade, que che asegura que a túa solicitude foi recibida. Saberás se fuches preseleccionado para a seguinte fase no momento de publicación das mismas nesta páxina web. A todos os participantes se lles notificará por correo electrónico cada nova publicación. Consulta, por favor, o calendario específico de cada convocatoria

4.Recorda que para cubrir correctamente o formulario e poder envialo, necesitarás achegar varios documentos escanear. Concretamente:

• Copias do teu DNI (ou pasaporte) e dos DNI (ou pasaportes) dos teus pais e/ou titores
• Unha foto persoal túa, tamaño carné.
• Certificado de notas de 3º de ESO, expedido polo Centro, onde conste a media académica e a nota da materia de inglés. En caso de estar exento de cursar a asignatura de inglés, deberás incluir a nota da asignatura de lingua extranxeira que cursas no seu lugar (Exemplo: francés). Se o certificado do teu centro non incluíse a nota media, podes calculala ti mesmo. Para achar esta media, débense sumar todas as notas menos a de relixión ou materia alternativa, e dividir o resultado entre o número total de materias.
  
• Necesitarás ter os datos fiscais do IRPF da unidade familiar na que vivas. Para realizar a inscrición, deberás inserir a cantidade correspondente á casa 366 da/s declaración/s IRPF do último ano fiscal pechado. Aínda que neste momento da inscrición poidas utilizar os datos que consten na copia da declaración que teñas a man, recorda que en caso de ser preseleccionado, a organización do Programa te exixirá que entregues un Certificado oficial de Renda (IRPF) do último ano fiscal pechado. O devandito certificado vén expedido pola Axencia Tributaria territorial correspondente ao suxeito fiscal; a súa solicitude pode tramitarse de distintas formas:

A kiss is just... a $259,000 memory

The woman in Robert Doisneau's classic photograph of a couple kissing passionately on a Paris street sold her original print for 155,000 euros ($A259,000) at an auction - about 10 times the expected sale price.
An unidentified Swiss buyer bought The Kiss at City Hall.
Auctioneer Herve Poulain said he believed the price was among the highest ever for a 20th century photograph.
The photograph was put up for auction by Francoise Bornet - a former actress who claims she and an old flame were the subjects. It was taken in 1950 and became famous in 1986 when reprinted as a poster.
The black-and-white picture of a couple kissing in front of City Hall, with harried passers-by fading into the background, affirmed Paris' reputation as the city of blissful love.
That it was not a spontaneous snapshot was confirmed when Bornet sued Doisneau for a percentage of sales of the photo. The court in June 1993 rejected her claims, though the case forced Doisneau to confess to having used professionals instead of a couple caught off guard.
He was working on a photo series about lovers in Paris for Life magazine, when he approached Bornet and her boyfriend to pose. The photo later appeared in Life.

Bornet expressed no regret about parting with the photograph. "In any case, this kiss is engraved in my memory," she said. "It's a wonderful memory, is all. I don't need the image to remember it."
